SOCCER MISTRESS OF THE FIELD

DON'T MESS WITH THE BEST
AND DIE LIKE THE REST!

~ Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing. ~

Have been put in charge of the soccer girls this year. They have been training diligently since the school begins. Matches are coming up soon and that means more often going down to the field to kick and pass the ball. Fitness level has to be improved and they are pushing themselves to reach for the optimum level.

So far we have 24 girls and am hoping that more girls would join the group so that we can field more teams for the matches. We have begun our friendly matches to expose the girls to more fieldwork, ball skills and the feel and pressure of the real game.

"Great results require great ambitions."

Don't under estimate that the sugar and spice looking girls can't create a ripple on the field. They don't whimper but roar. They don't waltz but bulldoze their way. So you see they aren't that sweetie pies with pink laces and ribbons you imagine they would be once they are on the field. They are fired to win and score and to wipe clean whoever runs across their path with the intention of snatching the ball away from their feet.

Once in their jerseys and boots, they can aim, shoot and kick the ball half field. The transformation is immediate that I too am left bewildered. They can still run around even after a 35 minute game. Their first friendly match, last Friday, left me standing and pacing along the edge of the field from the start till the final whistle.

"The secret of success is to be ready for opportunity when it comes".

I was a nervous wreck, biting my nails till the cuticle and wringing my hands till the bones crack every time they floated the ball to our favourable half. Fielding of the identical twins, Hajar and Amirah was a good strategy. They played left and right flank. If I was left confused in detecting who was who on the field, I could not imagine what the opponents would have gone through. I must imagine them looking puzzled and muttering under thier breath, "Now I see you, now I don't." Our girls delighted us with a comfortable 3-1 win.

Do not look at small advantages. Aim high and achieve greatness.

The girls are really nice and am proud that they are making a lot of sacrifices for their passion in the sports! I am glad to have Aisah as the captain. She can lead them in the warm-up as well as work independently. Very reliable and dependable! The carmaraderie is strong that even the ex-seniors are coming down to train and give them moral suppoprt. Remember girls, in order to find your full potential you must first test your endurance. Give Ronaldo a run for his money, girls!

GO FOR THE GOALS GALS AND BEND THE BALL LIKE BECKAM!

"Where there is an open window there exists limitless opportunity."

Well done ... another new challenge. I've no doubt you'll do great. I like the posters that you put up ... they look really cool. And you're right about one thing ... I'm a confused person now - not sure which is my 1st and 2nd home. Take care and warmest regards.
